With Impending Emergency Claims Deadline Approaching, Rules For Final Claims Will Be Released Shortly

Gulf Coast Claims Facility chief Kenneth Feinberg has promised that two documents are being drafted that will provide information about what claimants can expect when the process enters its next stage on Nov. 23, the deadline for filing emergency claims. These two documents are:

  1. A memo from an unnamed legal scholar that will detail how relevant laws, including the Oil Pollution Act, affect claims, including the contentious claims and address how the courts are likely to view those claims.
  2. A draft of the protocol outlining the standards that will be used to weigh final claims.

Hotel Data Indicates Affected Gulf Coast Hotels Should File BP Oil Spill Claims With the Gulf Coast Claims Facility. Of the 27 market tracts along the Gulf Coast, 22 failed to keep up with the total United States hotel industry in year-over-year, revenue-per-available-room growth during June 2010. Of those, eight reported RevPAR declines.

The U.S. hotel industry posted a 10.3% RevPAR increase during June. Affected Hoteliers and Hotel Workers should file claims with the GCCF. Forms are available online.

Gulf Coast Claims Facility November 23rd Emergency Payment Deadline Approaching

The Gulf Coast Claims Facility November 23rd Emergency Payment Deadline is quickly approaching.

Businesses and individuals who have a financial loss because of the spill and are owed money by BP should gather together the paperwork necessary to substantiate their Emergency Payment claim and file their claim immediately.

Please remember claimants submitting claims for Lost Earnings or Profits must submit documentation for 2010 compensation or gross revenues (For Individuals: Employment records for all months employed for 2010; For Businesses: Records showing gross revenues from sales or services for 2010)
