The State of Louisiana through the Louisiana Workforce Commission will be providing employment services and retraining to people who lost their job because of the BP Oil Spill. Services will be provided in Acadia, Assumption, Evangeline, Iberia, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Tammany, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Terrebonne and Vermilion Parishes.
Services will be provided to fishermen and those in the tourism and hospitality industries and even to displaced homemakers and others.
Qualified people will receive help finding new jobs that match their current skill set, retraining or even help with starting or growing their own business. Child care, transportation and uniforms are also available. Community and technical colleges and certified private training providers will do the training.
